My C.Saxatilis fry are doing good, I have about 100 at 2-3cm length eating huge amounts of frozen brine shrimp and other frozen food. They even try to eat the krill I give the parents.
I got a new 100g tank that I plan to move half the fry to soon, it's getting a bit crowded in the 145g.
I have been thinking about getting a new larger tank for the pikes in a few months and would like some input on size and so on.
I would like to be able to have one C.Saxatilis pair and some other cichlids and be able to keep the other cichlid in the tank if the pikes spawn. I guess it should be possible if the tank is big enough but I only have about 2.4 meters of wall and I have got the restriction from my wife on the hight and depth so I think the maximum dimensions is 240x50x50cm (about 95"x20"x"20). Which isn't a lot more volume than I have right now but quite a bit more length.
What do you think? Would it be big enough or would I still just be able to keep one pair of pikes?
One idea is to try to keep two pairs of pikes, might work if they grow up together which I will be able to arrange with all the fry I got.
