I've been thinking about building a plywood tank. Before I take the big jump into a big tank I wanted to try my hand at a small tank. I already have a 1.5 quart kit of pond armor. I have an old 75g tank that I'm not using, 1/4" glass. Wouldn't care if I broke it down and cut down the size a little bit. I was wondering what size of plywood tank could I build with that size glass. Was thinking maybe 48"x18"x16", if the glass thickness will work. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

would think 1/2" would be fine, I really don't see the point to build a small test tank, it really is not something you need to practice if you do your research and ask questions. I would save what you have and build the tank you want, I built a 600 with pond shield and thought it was not that difficult but I do have a good amount of expierence. What size tank do you want to build

That's what I was thinking. Just go for the jack pot lol. I thinking somewhere right around 300-500 gallons, depending on the dimensions I decide on

I'm going to be building my first plywood tank here soon. I've done a lot of research on it. While I'm a bit nervous I have no doubt I'll get the job done. Go big!

Just food for thought here. Why don't you look at building a glass tank. For a bit more money then a plywood tank you can build a 8x4x2 all glass 1/2 inch euro brace tank. Which wod be 475 gallon also with an all glass tank you have some resale value if you ever decide to sell it

I trust myself more with plywood and epoxy then I do building an all glass tank. I also only need 1 viewing window also.
