Ok i have a community tank of malawi various types yellow labs, red top trewavasae, albino yellow labs etc. I have a yellow lab who has been dominate the whole time i have had him and all the fish use to bow down to him when he passed by them even tho he never really attacked them. He us to always display black bars and dark yellow color, now he is bright yellow and hangin in the top of the tank in one corner I see my red top who use to be smaller then him chasing him around the tank once in awhile, my red top has started to chase all the cichlid around in the tank, why has he turned like this he was a baby when i put him in there with all the other fish but has turned on them. He is nipping the tail of only my yellow lab and they are both male all other fish are female, lab also is bigger then him not by much tho. What can i do to curb him down

Sad day after putting my yellow lab in a 10 gallon to heal he Died. Damn I will miss you MR-Tee, he was my first cichlid had him since december and he was the man. I will never forget u MR-Tee

Sorry for your loss.

Sadly just because they grow up together doesn't mean they will always get along. Labs are less aggressive than many other mbuna and can end up being bullied.

Ya he was a good fish he ruled the tank but not aggresively only biting others once in awhile to let them know he was boss, mostly stayed hidden only came out to eat and settle disputes in the tank he was the man, he just started to really color up too. Now my 2 longest pvc pipe are empty he use to guard those with his life. I want to add another male yellow lab in hopes that it will mate with my female but i dont think it will work now i may just have to put the labs into a 10gallon to see if they will mate then after returned to main tank
