Ok I'm thinking of maybe setting up a rainforest tank, Itd be for red eyed crocodile skinks. I'd have a shallow pool in there that would be the run off from the "rain" I plan on having a pump turn on once a day for about 5 min or so, the pool would only be say an inch deep anything extra would go into a filter area. Now my question is the pump would recycle the water that went into the filter area back into the tank as rain... How can I keep the stagnant water in the filter from going bad growing bunch of bad junk. My thoughts are to have it go past done pre filter sponges then into a 50 gallon tank in there I'd have maybe bio balls and some kind of fluidized bed filter to keep the water moving and act as a filter.. Would bb grow enough if only fed a little every day?

It's a 200 gallon tank would have live plants, two red eyed skinks (male and female) and a pool area lets say inch deep and 18 inches in diameter

Any input? Ideas?
