my african cichlid (red zebra) has grown in size and was eating well then stopped eating I had changed its food to a variety of shrimp, beefheart, and squid as well as pellets. I have her in a brackish setup with two columbian catfish and a G. tile eel. the tank has a SG of 1.016 and all tank parameters are stable. She has red spider veins showing behind her scales and would hide vertically face up behind a filter every now and then for a few days. I recently added a wet/dry filter as well as some drift wood from a beach about two months ago. please help!!!

Generally speaking, any driftwood collected by oneself is a very risky thing. Ecspecially near a beach like that, it is very likely that chemicals have leeches into the wood. Driftwood acts like a sponge, and will soak up all sorts of trace chemicals, then slowly releasing them overtime slowly poisoning you tank. Even water that appears clean will often have some type of pollutant. It's possible that the symptoms just started manifesting due to the building concentrations from the driftwood. Did you prepare the drfitwood at all, or just put it right in? Just my best guess, good look.

I cleaned it a little bit but not thoroughly. Ill take it out and see how it does. since the last water change she is doing better finally eating but my cats aren't eating like they used to the only fish in there that has not changed in behavior is my eel always
hungry for krill

I was thinking a possible ammonia spike had of occured with the new piece of wood and new filter. I left the old one on for about two weeks. But i don't know has anybody else encountered spider veins showing on there fish
