I don't have a pic, but on my last fish trip I saw three fish that were about 3". I couldn't tell what they were, and just thinking of it now, I think they may have been Snakehead. This is the best way I can describe them...
Black horizontal stripes
silverish/ tan body
red coloring by and on the tail
Small back spots on its head
It looked like the fish in the photo below. Could this be a species of Snakehead in Wisconsin? Anyone know what else it could be?
Wish I would have been able to catch a few, but they were to small for my hook...

Are you familiar with bowfin? They are probably the most snakehead-like fish in NA. Pics of juveniles: http://www.nanfa.org/fif/bowfin.shtml

Snakeheads are a possibility, but not a large one. See if you can net some of these guys next time you're out and put up pics for a positive ID!

Def. not a Bowfin. The body structure seemed different. Thanks for the help anyway though.:)

Isn't WI a cold state? I giant snakehead would not survive the cold waters there. They might last a bit in the hot summer but that is about it. A northern on the other hand might have a chance

I agree I think they were either bowfin or burbot.

What kind of habitat were you in?

*EDIT* How about burbot? http://www.undervattensbilder.se/?id=1374&lang=1

I saw the fish in the Peshtigo River in Wisconsin. Saw them when we went up to the cottage.

Nope. I guarantee, for sure, that is not what I saw.
