agreed with gasmask, channa ornatipinnis can be and are very aggressive channa for a dwarf, i have a breeding pair and 10 juvi left from a batch of 100, i have sold all to fish keepers and each one has a species tank after my recomendation, even then between themselves ornatippinis are very aggressive....
I would not want to put anything in with them what so ever, when i first got them and was new like yourself danny i tried them with salvini cichlid and a midas cichlid and boy that was a bad move, channa are best kept in species tanks, you could maybe get away with channa orientalis/Channa bleheri/Channa orientalis within a community setting with some carefully selected tank mates, then again some mid sized channa can manage communitys but ofcourse tankmates to be big enough to not be concidered as food....
keeping channa esp dwarf are reccomended to be kept as specie's tank, getting a group of the same in the aim of getting a pair, rehoming the rest, have a nice planted tank either real or plastic, this also looks much better and channa feel at home rather than a bare tank, iam very happy with my ornatipinnis tank being species only, i have a bigger community tank with mid sized channa and there ok but i wouldnt reccomend this until such time as you have exsperience, even then nothings garenteed....also working out which ones are sub tropical and ones that are tropical then some are high end tropical....
