I've been thinking of change my tank project. Currently I have a 150cmx60cmx50cm tank with two polys and a clown knife fish but due some personal reasons I maybe turn it on a south american tank.

The future project probably would have just a apistogramma pair, tetras, corys and maybe some angels and dicrossus.

I probably am the only brazilian that never had a south american tank...

I know this is a forum for monster fish, but don't find any other active comunity like this in internet so I decide to ask for some help in here.

My doubts:

Can I put two species of apistogramma togheter? Two pair, one of each specie, would work? Can I put only the males and if yes, 3 diferente species of apistos will work at that tank size?
Also, the dicrossus will be fine with the apistos?

Thank you.

In that size aquarium you could do two pairs of Apistogramma, I would however pick species from different groups. You could also do a few males of different species. Either option I would make sure there is plenty of coverage and line of sight breaks.

In a 6x2x2ft aquarium I kept a pair of A. sp. Tefe, a pair of A. Panduro and a single male A. Trifasciata. There was also a group of 6 Dicrossus Filamentosus in there. The largest male Apistogramma would rule the tank but not cause damage to the other fish.

The Dicrossus never showed any aggression. Do note though, Dicrossus are quite sensitive and delicate fish.

My first choice is apistogramma panduro. Any sugestion for the second species? I'm thinking of trifasciata or maybe agassizi, is that ok? My dream apisto is the abacaxis but i know that is almost impossible to find 'em here.
