I have a 12" female ornate that's demonstrating swim bladder issues. She can't stay upright, her tail end is floating. I put her in a bucket with an air stone, and a couple inches of water so she can easily get to the top for air, what else can I do to help her? What causes this, can it be cured?

I hope it goes away I would hate to lose her, she's my favorite poly.

She didn't make it, I woke up this morning to what looked like some sort of knot, or contusion in her throat, and when I looked closer it seemed to be a gas pocket.

very sorry to hear :(
whenever a bichir develops some sort of floating or balance problem, it really is a toss up, although it seems it's never gone well for me, even when the problem seemed to have sorted itself out at first. And there's really not much one can do.
