Question first.
In a 55 will a 6 in. african brown knife eat a 4 in. senegal bichir?:screwy:
IF SO, I'll grow the bichir out first
otherwise would this be a possible tank?
55 gal
african brown knife
senegal bichir
ebjd? (or some type of s/a cichlid)
i like the ebjd because although not as hardy, it would grow slower with less aggression.
Other s/a cichlid choices(instead of ebjd)? Comments?

i would grow out the Bichir.

Grow out the Bichir, and if you do get an EBJD, make sure to get an F1. They will be more expesnive but wont have the problems that most inbred ones have.

that'd have to be a really skinny bichir for the brown knife to be able to eat it... i got my brown knife at 5.5" when my senegals were still like 2" and never had any problems. I'd be more worried about the size of the EBJD in relation to the senegal as the bichir will grow about 1-1.5" a month until full grown where the EBJDs are very slow growing

These were my thoughts as well. I just wanted confirmation. I'd really like an ebjd but i don't know if its the right choice. Im thinking maybe a GT?

GT would be a better choice IMO but at the same time if you get a male they have the potential to get really big, id recommend a salvini or firemouth or something along those lines

salvinis look cool but ive not seen those around here and tbh i dont really care for firemouths:(

fair enough, your typical GT would be okay i've just heard stories of some males reaching crazy sizes
