Possible tank/stand issue.

Well I recently bougth a used 100 gallon tank with stand. It's 18.5 inches wide.

Now for some reason, my gf of 3 weeks decides to buy me a 130 gallon tank. She forwarded the convo she was having with the seller and he said its 19.5 inches wide..... Now I'm hopping that's a typo. But if It isn't I really don't feel like building another stand.

So what I was thinking was to buy 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood, 19.5 inches wide and putting them ontop each other and putting the tank on that. Would that work?

I'm picking the tank up friday, and will have my tape measure with me.

she is a keeper!

one sheet of 3/4" plywood should be sufficient, the tank if it is 19.5" would be overhanging by 1/2" on the front and back, which should not be a problem I would think.

Pics of the stand would help, but I agree with 12v. But is you are nervious of the overhang then add some 1x2 or 1x4 to the front and back then cut the ply. Would help with the bumps not scratching you.

Oh yes the type of stand. it's made out of 2x2" steel tubing.

I'm not affraid of bumping into it because its in a corner of the room and knowone will walk buy it.

I'm sure the tank will be supported enough with the boards on top of the stand.

its possible that the 130g tank that is supposedly 19.5" wide is a Hagen tank.

I believe some Hagen tanks are 19.5" wide, where as most other tanks (Aqueon/Marineland etc) are 18.5" (if you measure at the bottom trim). but they call them 18 wide, but if you measure at the bottom trim, its actually 18.5".

but pretty much all stands premade allow for this.

Yeah I'm tempted alrigth but I don't know If the floor would agree with me.

I have a picture of the tank, but I can't even tell if it has any center braces.

She will be paying $300 for it. Thats used and atleast several years old.... I don't think it's a good deal but she wont listen to me. What do you guys think?
