We currently have a few pacific hagfish at work(Eptatretus stouti). They seem to get along with a wide variety of fish very well. We even have them with a swell shark and they all ignore each other-frequently piling up in the same corner of the tank. They could be interesting tankmates for coldwater catsharks etc. Anyone hear of private aquaria keeping them before?

Yes, they can exude copious amounts of slime when disturbed-it is pretty cool.

Alprazo: I haven't seen a mention of swell sharks eating hagfish in the literature. It may be a fluke, but even as I type this the swell shark is literally sitting ontop of a hagfish, and in all these months we haven't lost any hagfish.
