The Gater gar looks a bit lonely :D . I was thinking a Peacock bass, and a bichir of some sort...any suggestions?

large growing bichirs is all you can hope for. obass should be great as gator gar food:)

idk.. a buddy of mine got a gator gar, grew like crazy and ending up having a bichir in his mouth.. all depend on the size of the pbass and bichir, but gator grow so fast..

i would love a full tank of gars, but a variety of predatory fish would seem a bit more exotic imo...so what would you guys suggest?

You do know that P. Bass on the average get larger than most Bichirs:)

i'm aware of this, but bichirs don't have the level of activity or the body shape that pbass do, and this will attract the gator gars attention. find me a pbass that grows larger than a gator gar and then we'll consider them possible tankmates:D however it's also necessary that the bichir is roughly the same size or larger than the gator.

lets say i get a pbass near the same length as the gater ( which is about 7-8" or so) would they be ok with each other before i would have to move the gar into a pond?

yeah how long does the peabass stay under 20"? a gator has that long. perhaps less.
