hey guys,
i have 3 small dats in my tank, (4'')
first they were scared for my much bigger arowana but now 2 of the 3 are stable.
they seem to fight less than first, and swim stable , sometimes which eachother, trough my tank. the 3th one is not stable though and always hides. ive they see the 3th one they start to fight again.
is it possible those 2 who get allong are a couple?
shall i get rid of the 3th one?

A couple as in a breeding pair?
Doubt it.

Maybe get a few more dats, spread out the aggression more.

dats seem to be very sensitive of their environment. removing the 3rd might make the other two unstable.

Yeah, there would be no breeding behaviors at that young an age. Hell there isn't even any documented breeding of any captive dats at all as far as we know. ;)

Also, let me just say.

I had two IT's together who would swim together like a breeding pair of cichlids, I didn't know it was aggressive behavior as they were my first dats. After a while they stopped doing it and co-habbed fine for a few months, until I came home and found one of the dats laying at the bottom of the tank... Headless.

I say get more dats.

:iagree: with all the above statements.....

BTW: Vanimate, : Malaking Isda Keeper

LOL

man we got a bunch of Pinoys in here!!!

thnx for the info,
i know extra dats help,
but i dont want any more.
my tank is quite stocked already.
the problems is that my big aro tries to eat the dats when they are unstable and scared, but when there laid back and stable he accepts them, because he doesnt chase them since they dont run away from him.
i think i will remove 1, to see wat happens.

A couple of what? :D
