Possible WAL tank mates ?

What fish can i keep with my WAL.. He is aprox 14"...

Can i keep him with any of these..?
6" Barramundi
6" Channa punctata
3" Loaches
3" Jag
7" Spotted gar

And what are the tankmates that u would suggest ?

How large is your WAL?

I would say that the loaches, the Channa punctata, the senegals and the Gar will be eaten in the first three cases and if the gar isnt eaten it will probably be very stressed out.

A WAL will eat fish over half its body length with ease.

I find the trick with keeping fish with WALs is to go with large deep bodied fish as anything thats quite slender will be eaten very quickly

Also split the tank into areas that the lung can go but other fish cant.

For example i have two thick ceramic pipes at the base of my tank that the lung can get through but the fuller bodies fish cant, thus keeping them separate half of the time.

the rule of thumb with african lung is that do NOT keep it with anything you mind losing, as they are unpredictable regardless of how long they've been kept with tankmates, and often the first bite is fatal, so no chance for you to react and separate the fish etc.

having said that, out of your list, the channa, loach, gar, senegal are definitely no. the jag is no because its way too small. and finally i wouldn't try it with the barramundi either.

Ok... None... I tried a Channa Gachua.. And he did major Damage in a single bite..much more than i expected.. Don't worry.. The channa is still alive...
