I have a 10' long 375 gallon tank that is empty and I have been kicking around the idea of a ray tank. I have had saltwater tanks but when the economy took a dive I shut down my 150 and sold all my fish, but kept my 45 quarntine tank for some fish. I want to get my big tank set up but the cost of saltwater changes is making me think of going freshwater again. I love the colors of sw fish but my pocket book is causing me to think again. If I were to get a fw ray what kind and how big of one, and i would want some fish to go in there also, so what fish could i put in there with the rays?

how wide is the 375? not very many rays stay under 18"

its 120" Long and 24" front to back. I might end up going back to salt to get a smaller ray in the 12" disk size when matured like the Cal. Ray

18" disk+the tail

The 24in width can be good for 3 different species of rays. if I had a 10 foot tank, I would do arowanas or gars

then u will be back to the expensive waterchanges which are even worse w salt rays then they are w salt fish...

i would get look into hystrix, scobina, or retics for freshwater.

I was just on a website that sells fw rays and they say they do 30 % ro water changes every day and keep the ph at 5.5 ( how do you get it that low) and tank temp is a 84-86 degrees. This looks like more work and expense than a salt tank with water bills and electric. Is this common practice for all fw stingrays?
