Hey guys so I need help with a 75g tank of mine. I have 2 marineland 400's on it. The tank water is green. I have tried a week long blackout period, and I have done large water changes as well. It will clear up for a day or so but shortly after is back to turning green. I cannot get this water to clear up. Last water check I did I had 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 5-10 nitrate. I am running out of ideas.

Hi.

So looking at your prior posts, I'm guessing you have a planted tank and in at least one thread you mentioned fertilizer. (Could be wrong, but you have a few posts on it, so that's my line of thought.)

Planted tanks are attractive to me, but not my area of expertise, however I suggest you post what ferts you use, how much and how often you dose, what lights you use and how long you normally keep them on as others with expertise might find that useful. (I get that you have turned off the lights in the last week, but lighting could still be a culprit.)

I did used to use ferts but I stopped using them over two months ago. I have a 48in LED Beamswork light fixture. I leave it on 4 hours then off for 4 hours and then back on 4 hours. I do that cycle once a day. I did plant some root tabs in the tank that I have not taken out, but thye have feel apart and I couldnt really remove them now. I took most of the plants out a few weeks ago and placed them in a separate tank. I have tanks in all, all have beamswork lights and do the same cycle, but this is the only one that is not clear.

this time of year (heading out of winter into spring) just seems to be the time for it i find. it just seem to be when everything gets a layer of the green and then i find the tanks sort themselves out and it goes.

an old friend once told me the more the try and fix these things the more they fight back, sometimes like in nature your tank will just find a way and balance itself out

I have been thinking that it may just clear up, but it has been going on for 2 months if not a little longer.
