Hey Guys,

I found a nice looking Payara on craigslist. I have been wanting to keep one for quite a while. He is about 7" long and is labled as a "Sabertusk Barracuda" so I am assuming it's (Hydrolycus scomberoides). Can you guys give me any first hand experiences with them? What I have been reading on the net seems very conflicting. I appreciate your responses!

Thanks!

Depends on the species, There are three different species, Scomberoid, Tatauaia, and Armatus. Scomberoid as the smallest, and Armatus as the largest. The care requirements vary for each species, You would need to post a pictures so the fish can be properly identified. I too bought my first payara labeled as Sabertusk Barracuda, And it turned out to be a Scomb, So post some pics if possible.
