Ok, i will e asking my parents for a 20L for my birthday so that i can get a puffer, because i cant put one in my 38gal community. I'm asking for opinions on my plans for stocking, snail breeding, aquascaping, etc. also, any helpful input would be appreciated, as ive never had a puffer before.

as stated, the tank will be a 20L. I plan to have 1 or 2 driftwood pieces for decor and hiding places, and i think ill have some anubias growing on the wood and some low light plants (crypts & hornwort or milfoil) growing in the substrate. substrate will be either fine gravel, sand, or a mixture of fine gravel/sand/gravel from my 38gal.

I will be using my 38gal community tank and possibly my sister's 5gal tank (which is currently housing a dwarf gourami and mystery snail) to breed MTS. I will take MTS from the 38gal and 5gal a couple times a week and put them in the 20L puffer tank. Some will bury themselves, some will be eaten by the puffer to keep its beak down.

i will be keeping one of the following puffers:
Auriglobus modestus, Auriglobus silus, Colomesus asellus, Monotrete abei, Tetraodon cutcutia

please give me any and all opinions on what i plan to do. tell me which puffer you think i should get. give me your opinions on the snail breeding project.
Any help is appreciated!!!

I forgot to add- how many dwarf puffers would i be ableto keep in there if i chose to keep dwarfs? Would i have to feed them snails if i just kept dwarfs?

if we are talking about 5 litres, that is too small for even a dwarf puffer. you need a bigger tank to consider keeping a puffer

20L as in 20long. 20 gallons. I p.m.'d benzjamin asking him to change the title, hopefully he can do that sometime tomorrow. I would be using my sisters 5gallon tank to breed mts (snails)

MTS are not great feeder snails for puffers. Their shells are just too hard. If you have pest MTS to get rid of, give them to a loachkeeper. I bred Mystery snails for my GSP's & they loved them, but it takes a while to grow them big enough. Its a lot easier to just buy frozen clams & mussels from the grocery store & crack them. Other than that, your 20long will support only one GSP, but maybe 3 SAP dwarfs...

I dont want gsp. Only auriglobius silus, A. Modestus, or several dwarfs.
Is it a good idea to go to petsmart an ask them if i can take all their hitchhiker snails that come in on plants? Tht seems easier to do.
If i were to get the dwarfs, could i feed them dried tubifex and bloodworms?

vary their diet with frozen bloodworm cubes, frozen mussell cubes, shrimp from the grocery store, mysis shrimp, krill every once in a while not too often though cause it causes lockjaw

I would say 4 or 5 dwarves would do well in a 20 long with some a school of otos to hang out on the bottom. They would love a planted a tank. The only thing to worry about is that the males are very agressive towards each other. I would buy one male and the rest female. This can be a little tricky though as they are not very easy to sex until they are adults.

I've never personally kept any of the species you have listed but I have heard the dwarves can be very entertaining.
