So I bought two 6" iridescent sharks off a person that kept them in a 55gallon tank and I think they are stunted, but will they grow again?

Since I was told the original purchase price was a really small petco size and she's kept them for a year. And they're only 6". And I've kept them for around 2 months now and don't see any visible growth.

They're colors are starting to become really bad spotted dark(losing the green shine), really quick too so I'm thinking stress is the cause. Did they like being in a small tank?
Could be my lighting, since I've heard about fish changing colors in different colored lighting.

My question is once a fish is stunted, will it grow again or do they stay small forever?

They should start to grow again but it may take a while. My channel was slightly stunted, and after 2 months it started growing like crazy. it was 3" in the pet store, and didn't grow any for the 5 months they had it. I felt bad and bought it, and after 2 months of no growth it exploded. Now in the past 10 months it has grown to 20". ID sharks turn darker as they get older. I don't think you have any worries unless it becomes really pale in color. Then it's definitely stressed. Has it bulked up any? That's what my channel did before it started to grow.

oh, i know they get pretty dark as they get older, but this is too sudden.
they were beautiful and shining green when i got them, and after a week being placed in the new tank they started to change colors. could be my lighting..

and there are some pale spots on the head. what do you mean by bulked?

As in have they gained in girth any? Bigger around? Pics of the color change, and spots would be helpful.

They will grow. They dont stop. Just look at my avatar. He grew 2+ inches in one year after I moved him from a 100 gallon to a 200 gallon pond. He was way to big for the tank. They do get darker as they get older.
