I was refered to this site for help with my dilema. Yesterdays 5.4 earthquake caused my 60 gal. tank to ?slosh, leak, crack? All I know is that when I got home there was about 5 gallons in my downstairs neighbors apartment. :WHOA: So I drained the whole tank got an emergency 10 gal. tank for my fish and cleaned out my big (relative) tank. I can't find the leak or crack. I bought silicon from petco and started looking for info here to proceed with my repairs. :nilly: I found some great advice and am posting to say Hi and get started here. :D

there was a earthquake in So cal!!! were you located?!!!!?!?! i hope not SD. nonononononononono

im sorry to not said this but

welcome on board.

im just pissin in the pants here there was a earthquake in SoCal?!

You'll have to fill it to find any leaks, it may not have leaked at all, the water may have just sloshed out in the shaking. Fill it up to the brim and inspect it for leaks. I'd leave it filled for 24 hours, with a peice of cardboard under the tank so if it's leaking from the bottom you'll be able to notice it.

Thank you, now I wish I had gone on here before I drained the tank. Kasper909 told me to get a better kind of silicone than the pet store brand. I am going to home depot for that and razor blaades. good thing cichlids are hardy

Welcome. I read the thread about the earthquake shortly after it happened yesterday and it sounded like a lot of people had water sloshed out of there tanks. Some said 10-15 gallons for a tank your size. That would be my first guess as to what happened to you. But i would take frostyone's advice to be safe.
