Hi everyone,
Show off your Jewel cichlids :naughty: Also mention details about, housing, food, size, age, etc.,

Hey got only 1 jewel in a 15 gallon tank. I caught this little guy out of the canal near my house in southern FL. There is a small area of the shoreline that they have taken over and they are everywhere. I identified them as jewels and thought i"d give em a try. This guy hasnt quite colored up yet and pretty much kills anything i put in there. He has adjusted to a cichlid flake food just fine. Enjoy:headbang2
More Pics soon not at home.

Nice fish PE4COCKB4SS4LYF, too bad people are polluting Florida waters with aliens. Add shrimps and prawns in their diet, they color up well with that.

Mine are pretty aggressive as well, they snap any fish that comes near them, but my firemouhs somehow keep them away by flaring at them :evil_lol:
They are housed in a 50g tank, along with e.maculatus and firemouths, their diet includes some Chinese flakes n pellets, fresh prawns n shrimps, mostly. Sometimes feeder platies, seasonally earthworms and other worms, and all small insects I can find around. They are with me for over a year now, quite rough guys!
