Its all about the subtrate, That was a pic when he was in my 300 gal which is had black as the subtrate and black sides of the tank but when ever I have him in my 1600 which has light colored sand he his coloring looks more like the one in your pics. I plan on moving my pearls agian back into one of my tanks that has black sand soon here and I will take some photos to show they change.
