I'm looking at setting up either a 4x2x2 or a 6x2x2 as a community tank. I've always been into my big aggressive americans like dovii and umbee but sometimes it seems like such a waste of space because you can't add anymore fish.

So for the first time i'm doing a community "peaceful" tank. So far i've got 10 clown loaches, 2 synodontis ocellifer, 2 synodontis eupterus, 1 gold spot pleco and a hoplo catfish.

What else can people recommend to add to this stocklist and also please post tank shots and stocklist of your own tanks

Sounds like a great tank. You could go with some nice Angelfish (check out the Pinoys and Phil. Blue Angels), Appistogrammas, some of the more mellow Geophagus, Laetacara Buckelkolf or any fish from the Laetacara group. I have several mellow tanks with the above fish and I'm really loving the mellow laid back tank.

my 125g consists of
1 pair of severums
h. psittacus
5 m. festivus
5 s. daemon
g. altifron
2 g. abalios

everyone is very chill in the tank even when the severums are spawning

great setup but how would all these guys go with my current stocklist though?

I pretty much only keep the more peaceful SA cichlids.

Festivum
severums
uaru
angles
dwarf cichlids
blue acara
port acara

with your current tankmates, well. everything you have will chill on the bottom. the clown loach will eventually get pretty large with a 6x2x2 it will be a nice setup.

i will most likely remove the geos this fall for space issues but keep the daemon

Is it going to be planted? And have you decided on substrates and decor?

No i don't think i will go planted as i'm pretty lazy and from what i've read you need to maintain it a fair bit. As for substrate, most likely a mixture of fine black gravel and coarse black sand, and as for decor, large river stones and driftwood/ hollow logs and probably some large fake plants
