I thought we could all use a thread on fish tank related quick tips you know like those 101 ideas for organizing your closet but only in MFK style:


My favorite to get the ball rolling.
A drop of antibacterial liquid hand cleaner on a wet cloth to clean the outside glass on my tanks wipe dry with paper towels has a little bit of alcohol to prevent streaks cant cause the same problems as spray window cleaners atomizing and getting into the tank...

i use paper towels to wipe the algae off the inside of my tank. i had an algae magnant, but when ever i wiped the tank with it, it only took off some of the algae and left streaks on the outside of my tank for some reason. i also have an algae scraper but that doest work to good either.

To get out the nasty build up in my pipes I have a piece of 550 cord tied to an old hankey, you can drop the cord through to the other end and pull out all the nasty crap inside.

I've always hated trying to find the plug ins for my filter, heater, etc when i do water changes. Tried color coding them with tape but ran across some tags in the school section of walmart. I just tie them on to each cord after marking them. Example filter 125, makes it a lot easier to unplug the right one. Especially if you have a setup with a lot of tanks.
