I just experienced my first sting in the saltwater fish keeping hobby, and I don't like it.
I was reaching under a rock to try to scare out a baby panther grouper to move him to another tank, and get a pretty deep sting on my index finger from my 5" Black Long-spine Urchin. It left behind some kind of black residue inside my finger, and it hurts like hell.

With some of the other fish that I own, and am about to own, I'm sure worse injuries are to come lol.

So guys, what kind of stings have you gotten from your marine fish and inverts?

But 'bristled' b y multiple bristle worms, other than that one of my coworkers caught a lionfish that jumped with his bare hands... Bad idea

I love lions, but I'm always scared when my hands are in the water with them.
I know they don't want to sting you, but it's still such an uneasy feeling lol

Not sure how you'd get stung by a lionfish. LoL. They're so gentle. I hand feed mine.
However that being said, I got stuck in the finger by a foxface (I'd imagine getting stung by a lion fish would make sense this way) when I netted him and i tried to get his spines out of the net. He pulled them down and jack knifed them up just as fast and within 3 seconds I couldn't feel up to my elbow. I was sucking the blood out of my finger and running under hot water and that's as far as the numbness got for a few hours. Was insane how fast it worked. Don't want to find out how my lions 6-7" spines would feel. LoL
