I'm in the process of putting plants in my sump for filtration. Right now I already have some plants but looking to add more. My current list includes ten mangrove plants about 15", one giant amazon sword (show size), ten lucky bamboo. I'd like to add more in the future but have not decided what to purchase. I know I'd probably need a whole lot more to support my 500G system. Please post your pic here

I think that's a golden pothos. I'm glad you brought that up because my gf has ton of those. Never came across about putting them in my tank. You gave me an excellent idea. I heard they grow like crazy and can grow runner up to 8-10 feet long.

are you aquascapeing this thing as A display or are you purely looking for a nutrient export?

id like to do the same thing and i think it would look cool

Spider plants work great for that.

Nutrient export but I welcome all pics:headbang2

Water sprite or water hyacinth are probably your best bet for nutrient export. Even a lot of water treatment plants use hyacinth for this very reason, but it is illigal in some places so check to make sure. But water sprite also works really well.

Never had success w/Hyacinth indoors. Might need T5's or better for good growth. Water lettuce is also a floater and can take a little more shade.

Justonemoretank has a stock tank w/letuce for a RTC pond.

I like Java moss. I've been making all kinds of stuff out of it lately! Walls, balls, trees, etc. Its zero-maintenance. I put it up high in the sump (humidity only) to make it spread quickly, then just throw it in the bottom of the sump to suck up nutrients. That plastic mesh for knitting is great for making all the patterns & the moss has no problem sticking to it. I use fishing line to secure everything. Also, its a low-light plant so it seems to take up more nutrients than light. My Amazon Swords just suck up light & dont really help with nitrate...
