Dont mean to keep beating a dead horse.

Just wanted to get some feedback before i take out my 2 fx5. My friend tells me he has been using scubbers in one of the 3 media trays in his fx5 and they work great

I'm using the following media in my 2 fx5's. 1. ceramic rings, 2. larger rings (made of differnet meterial but look like large ceramic rings 3. Eheim little brown ball thingi's LOL cant remember what they called. Everything is only topped off to half of each tray.

I want to max out each tray now. Would scrubbers be a good choice in one of the trays of each fx5? Can i do half other media and half scrubber in each tray?

Help!

If you want to maximize the biological media capacity of the fx5, then fill all trays with the most efficient media. Bio media like matrix, bio max, efisubstrate, ceramic rings etc are the best choices. Pot scrubbies are not the best due to them being inefficient for their size and surface area provided. Post scrubbies along with bio balls if you do have to use them, are better utilized in a sump.
