I just got some pot scrubbies that i am almost sure are soap free at the dollar store. I was wondering how i could use them in my filters? Can i put them in my whisper 30? How about my canister filter?

ive done it but i i put filter floss on top off them. i dont use inserts no more

I use them in place of ceramic rings/bio balls. They can work anywhere you can cram them in an HOB, or depending on what size canister, in the section you use for biomedia.

i have them stufffed in empty spaces on my all my hob filters and alot of peeps put them in canisters. i use eheim pro in my canisters though

Ehfisubstra Pro/Fluval BioMax FTW!

thanks for all the replies guys :nilly:
I am upgrading my 25 gallon lights and substrate and was wondering how i could upgrade my whisper 30 HOB, cause I'm tired of filter cartridges.
Some Newbie Questions for ya:
I was wondering how many scrubbies i should put it the filter and how often i should change them?
Is there a reason why i would ever need to change them, other than rinsing them when they get clogged?
what other media should i put in it to have good filtration?

I just rinse mine off once in a while.... the crud flushes right out of them easy if they have any crud in them.

You can only rinse them out if your water isn't chlorinated, which I doubt. You could take some tank water in a bucket and then slosh them around in there, and give them a couple of squeezes to get the excess junk out and your bacteria will be fine.

Exactly. I am going to use scrubbies in my wetdry for my 240. You don't change them out either.
