hi i'm setting up a marine tank and was wondering if in my filter i could use pot scrubbers or would they just rot thanks

^^Everyone on here uses them for bio, in fact there is a moderator that bought them in bulk and sells them on here. I'm not sure how they would work for a marine setup I just wanted to point out that most of them if not all do not have a cleaning agent impregnated in them.

They are great for biofiltration in fresh or saltwater systems when used in wet dry filter. They will generate lots of nitrates. If you're going to use some type of denitrator or do a lot of water changes they will work in your marine set up. Just curious...no live rock for you?

well i am not going to use them i have put a small amount of ehfi-substrate i the filter i am going to fill the rest up with live rock rubble then leave room for chemical filteration if i ever need it

liverock only is much much better as liverock can breakdown nitates as quick as produce them. its the best by far for filtration, another reason to move slow is to allow that process to establish itself.

its the same concept of a DSB, deep sand bed. However for this process to happen efficiently you need far more then 1.5-2 lbs of rock per gallon, and is also determined by the porosity of the rock. Different types of rock are less dense then others, creating quite a difference.
