Also known as Porcupine River Stingrays. They are commonly found in Brazil and oftentimes occupies marshy , sandy bottoms . Maximum size somewhere around 40-50 cm ( 15-20 inches ) diameter. Whats surprising is that Fishbase mentions that the recommended temp for P.Histrix would be subtropical , from 24 26°C , which would roughly translate to Mid to High 70's F.
There are a lot of different patterns for this species ( as is usually the case for Potamotrygons ) but is quite easy to identify because of its coloration and body form ( The back is arched pretty high ). Please see accompanying pics for more detail.
