Hi you guys i cant decide which ray to get a Potamotrygon Hystrix or motoro. List which one you would get or already have and why.

Well... Motoro's are the easiest to as far as caring for them, they are pretty hardy rays.
Hystrix are lil harder to find right now, so i personally would choose hystrix for their rarity recently, bc you can get a motoro pretty easily now a days.
get one of each!!
BUT, once again.... You're in CA and they are illegal their....HATE for the 5-O to nab ya

BUT said:man someone must have a ton for sale down there. this is like the 3rd post i seen of people geting an trying to get rays in cali. i use to live there. have the laws changed or am i missing something
if its ur first id say motoro. easier out of the rays to keep, have a pair now. but i really want a pair of hystrix,

To get a permit to keep rays in the following state call the number and ask for a permit to keep illegal fish. It's going to help if you tell them that your studying them or they are for educational purposes.

Hystrix is smaller..motoro is hardier...Id go with what you can afford and what you have a big enough tank for! GL
Thank you, USMCtanker. I've been looking for that number for ages. I'm trying to get a permit to keep rays here in AZ, and as a homeschooled student of marine biology, do you think that would improve my chances?
Alot depends on what size tank you're gonna keep them in, A full grow Hystrix will be about half the size of a motoro.. And if you're wanting to breed them Hystrix take 2-3 years until maturity or maybe more depending on how big you buy them.. Motoro's are way easier and grow way faster.
