So i think i saw one of these guys at the LFS. I have always wanted to get a ray. I was wondering all the nessecary info on these guys.

I wish i could get one of these, but i no they need a very wide tank, and miles i have seen you diy and i wanted to do something like this, but how long would i have to do this? Right now all i have is a 67g that is 18" wide.

How long could he live in this?
And also what is the normal price on these guys, i no they might be cheaper in your area, but this is the first time i have ever seen on in my area and it is 6-7" disk diameter for $200, how is that for a price?
And also miles how much did that diy project cost total?

$200 seems a bit steep, depends on the variety.. your location will change the price too, supply and demand.. so if you've never seen one, $200 sounds about right, unless its a reticulata.

My DIY project costed me less than $200 and alot of it was with scrap wood from around the house..

your 67g wide might suffice for a short period, but its really hard to maintain water quality in a small tank and there is less room for errors with smaller amounts of water.. sometimes its just better to hold off until you can accomodate them for the long run, then you wont have to stress them out with transfers and stuff..

Good rule of thumb; tank first, ray last..
