Hello fellow ray keepers.

Yesterday I bought some reticulatas to keep with my Motoro.

And I wondered at what size these fish get mature? The male has allready full grown claspers and isn't larger than 15cm disc(he is propably smaller I need to measure them to be sure) The female is a little larger than the male, could she be mature as well?

The female is a very nice speciman, I will post pictures later when I have made some photo's.

The previous owner kept them for a year and he bought them as wildcaught import Somewhere in Frankfurt(Germany), and he said that the male allready had full grown claspers when he bought them.

Untill now they only wanted to eat Tubifex and Mosquito larvae. I hope I can get them on the shrimp and sprot soon as that is the staple food my Motoro's are on.

Here are the photo's of the retics

This is a picture of the 2 together note the male on the background. I need to get it to eat a little more as he is the skinnier one of the 2

Hello people

Its been a few days now, and the female is feeling at home in her tank, eats like a pig and is actively swimming around. I have my concerns about the male as it doesn't look like it started eating yet.

IN the first pictures you will see the aquarium contained pool filter sand. I always used it and is great stuff. But I noticed that my rays were not completely white at the bottom but a slight pink coloration, I thought this to be normal but I saw someone else's rays and they were completely white so I desided to give them another substrate.

I still had some decoration sand laying around from one of my other previous aquariums so I gave them that. This sand is some kind of fine grained gravel which consists of completely round sand grains. Hope they like this more.

Well here are the pictures I took 10 mins ago.

I couldn't get pictures of the male as he dug himself in.

I asked about the male being mature, but is there any way you can see whether a female is mature? Or is that only to be seen when she is pregnant?

Not to hijack, but it has been my experience and that of several other ray keepers on mfk that keeping larger, active motoros with retics can severely stress out the retics even if there is no signs of agression. Your male doesnt seem to be adjusting well and I would separate him soon or risk losing him.
