How common are these rays? I was looking at buying one just like in the pic! Anybody got any feedback on these types of rays.

Very common. Almost every place that says they have peru hystrix for sale will probably have peru sp.. You're going to have a hard time buying one with a similar pattern, they come in almost an endless variety of patterns. Just a note, most of those things grow huge, possibly beyond motoros. Might be a good idea to keep that in mind.

Does anybody on here own one and can tell me how big it got? I read females get around 19". How much should a perons pay for one in Canada? It's about a 8 inch disc and they want $300 for it.

I have one. He grows very slowly and much smaller than my Motoros (he's about 22cm now). I have him for 2.5 years now. Very active, very cute.

all depends on how easy you can get a "true" hystrix for. but i would spend the 300 on a pair of motos or a nice marble..IMO
