hey

i currently have a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft tank with my mangrove jack and motoro stingrays,
Im in the progress of upgrading my tank to an 8ft by 2.5ft by 2.5ft and i was looking for some
opinions concerning my gravel and rays, i have purchased quartz gravel diamond black for my new
tank but was concerned with the gravel harming my rays as it is not as smooth as i expected.

also was wondering if 2 fluval fx5 for the new aquarium would be enough for the filtration
side of things, sorry im not to great with fish terms and everythink iv only been into the fish hobby
for about a year or so and neva had a problem but just thought since im spending the money on the
new aquarium i should get as much info as i can.

cheers

I would go with pool filter sand, much easier for rays than gravel of any kind.

The 2 fx5 should be good enough, however I am not a big fan. You have to take them apart often to clean the prefilter material or nitrates will start to accumulate which is not good for rays. I would go with a large sump and hang on the back fluidized bed filter for accessory filtration in case your return pump fails. Also backup aeration in tank helps too. I always make my systems redundant to prevent catastrophic system failure.

I run 2 fx5 s. On my 210 with two leos and they've been fine. But i also do two small w.c a week to keep up with bio load. Chemi pure also helps
