2 of my 3 dats have a red tinge, almost gold/red, on the underneath part of their gills. (the belly near the front of the fish). Is this common in some datnoides. My nitrates are not quite down to nothing but they are not in the danger zone. Chemically, that is my only possible problem. I fed them beef liver today and this is when i noticed the red tinge.

there's a delay on my digital camera, so when I try to take a pic, the little guys move or hide. They're about 3 to 4 inches long, just babies. It's almost like a red/gold color, and only on the underbelly directly below the gills. It's not blood red, but more of a tinge. Shiny. I read a question posted by another member asking if there were such things as red datnoides, but I said no, was I wrong?

I tink it's normal. They are dilated blood vessels on the growing fish. Especially after Dats feed cuz of the way they over entend their mouths.
