As much as I enjoy what I have in my tank now (2 smaller meeki and several beuno Aries and some danios) I really would like to have some more "personable" fish. I want my 4 year old to enjoy more interactions with the tank than just looking at it from a distance. What fish would y'all recommend that will actually fit in a 40 breeder? I'd prefer permanently but honestly if it's a fish that will be comfortable in there for a few years, that will be enough. I have good LFS in my area that will take in larger fish...

I’d say throw in a breeding pair of convict cichlids, very interactive and aggressive towards the glass

Could try Herotilapia multispinosa.. had a juvie pair grow and spawn 3 times in a 40 breeder.. but after the 3rd spawn I think the male got tired of his mate and I had to separate..
