Idk why I waited this long to post but several months ago I took clippings from 5 different pothos plants. Some were several feet long. About 7-8 clippings total. I could not get them to grow roots. They just withered and died after a few months. At first I put them in soil and watered it bi-daily. Sometimes even 2x a day. Then I decided to put 1 clipping in my ac110. Just about an inch or two of the base of the stem. It just rotted off after 2weeks so I put it back in soil. I heard stories of people growing roots in just 24hours so I couldn't understand why mine didn't after 2 weeks?? Anybody help me?

I've found starting with short cuttings put directly into water, will work. Whenever I've tried to start in soil, and then transfer, it doesn't work, they rot. Takes longer to get the lush growth you want with short cuttings, but in the end you get results.

What Duanes said, ive never had issues with clipings that had about 6 leaves on them. i also strip a leaf or 2 off the bottom and just hang it directly in the back on my HOBs the only down side is the roots will entangle in the replacement cartridges. But these work really well for growing. i have a few such cartiridges just hanging in tanks now and plan on adding them to my new sump. but ive also had good luck just adding a few stems to the back.

also make sure your cutting the stems on an angle and that its a clean cut. this ime seems to work the best.
