it seems the pothos that i put in my filters is beginning to die. some of the new leaves are turning black and rotting, which, according to the internet is due to too much water. obviouslly there is nothing i can do about that so im wondering if it will adapt and be fine or if the whole thing will just slowlly die. anyone else experience this? I put them in the filters just like it says everywhere, take the plant out, wash the roots clean and put them in your HOB. any opinions?

The water may not contain all the nutrients/minerals the plants need to survive. Keep the potho's in the soil and extend the vines into the water. The plant may be able to balance it nutritional needs and adapt to pulling excess out of the tank.

I've always grown pothos from cuttings.. cut a vine from a soil bound plant.. keep it in a jar the cut tip submerged until the roots start growing then xfer to a tank... like oddball said most the time they will die back.. then adapt. Not always but usually. We keep a few soilbound ones around the house, and I've slowly added cutting from those plants to my filters.
