Just picked up a pot full at lowes for $10. Wash all the dirt off and it's good to put in the tank.

Yeah I was going to do that again, but one its a dam pain washing the first off and usually they shed the dirt roots and grow ones for water which is usually a pain to clean in the tank so we'll see

I've washed the dirt and put in a rubbermaid with water for a week or 2 before. It didn't seem to make a big difference for me with the roots. I have a hard time getting large root growth due to cichlids snacking on them.
