Guys, post the toughest fish you ever fought "Pound per pound". You can post for freshwater and saltwater.

Here's mine

Freshwater: Giant Snakehead

Saltwater: Threadfin Salmon (especially taking them on a Topwater lure)

6ft+ 75kgs+ Tarpon in 2010 in Costa Rica.
Went fishing with a guide from Los Chiles, when all of a sudden I almost got pulled overboard.
Battled the monster for like 15minutes and he made several jumps, but at one of the last jumps near the boat the monster managed to get away.
Guide estimated it to be the size posted above.

For freshwater, Im going to say hybrid striped bass.

For saltwater and if we are just talking about gamefish, Im going to say pompano. Any species of jack though is going to be a hard fighter.

false albacore are pretty tough to beat, haven't caught one in years but on light tackle? 10lb fish on light drag may take 20+ minutes to get in. Big schools of em are a lot of fun

Amberjack also is one that will try ripping your arms out of socket pretty good.. lol

Pound-for-pound Smallmouth Bass fight hard. The hardest fighting fish I have ever caught overall were definitely Amber Jack. They wore me out on an old spinning rod with twenty pound line!

Wow, where did you catch that Snakehead? Looks like an Obscura

Sturgeons are a tough fight, expect to feel sore the next day...as you are eating it

Freshwater, I think the bullseye snakehead fought the hardest.

Saltwater, Havent done extensively but these little tarpon were fighters. i cant imagine the big ones. It helps their case that I was throwing my bait rod with 4 pound line and jigs. They broke me off numerous times.
