Powder blue blowing bubbles out of mouth?

My powder blue gourami has been acting strange the past couple days now. He is sitting on a powerhead and is coming up for air every once in awhile. His breathing is laybored. I’ve done a waterchange and the parameters are fine. I took him out and put him in a 1 gallon tank to look at him. When I hold him on the surface he blows bubble out of his mouth. When I’m not holding him he’ll sink to the bottom and sit there. Sometimes sideways. Not sure what is going on. He’s been in the tank for a long time now.

Sorry for the late response, didn’t get a notification that someone responded. I pulled him out and put him into a smaller tank. Went to go do stuff and came back later that day and he was floating. Still not sure what it was but must have been too late for him.
