Tank size?

Yes they will be fine, there might be some aggression when young but all should be fine as adults, I had a texas with my ebjd

I wouldn't risk putting a texas with it they are normally too agressive.Maybe a JD that is smaller, like stated earlier

NO i had a Texas with my EBJD all he did was harassing all my fish. It even attack my eel.

Is the EBJD the only fish in the tank right now? If it is I would leave it alone and not do anythig that would stress it. It seems at between 3 and 4" EBJD's pass that critacal stage in development and get a little tougher. When you're ready to introduce a new fish make sure to quarintine it and treat for intsetinal parasites. Then a smaller JD would be fine, two JDs in a 55 makes a nice display. Also EBJDs are generally less agressive than regular JDs and IMO a Tex would be too much for it + the tank really is'nt big enough.

yeah i would wait until your EBJD is grown more and out of the woods of being harassed (like 4in or so) and then you could add a smaller JD to the tank, in the meantime you could add some schooling tetras or something to give more movement to the tank
