I would like to get some opinions on adding a juvi powder blue tang to my stock list.

My current set up/stock.

6'x20"x18" 125g grow out, 200 lbs of mixed LR (fiji, marshall, caribbean, tonga deep water)

stock: sizes are aprox. sans long snouts and caudal fins.
1x bi color angel 2 1/2"
1x male birdnose wrase 5"
1x princess parrot 5"
1x yellow tang 4"
1x Stars and stripes puffer 3 1/2"

I currently have most of the gear (except lights) for my display that I will be putting up this spring. Display will be a 300g with a 125g fuge.

So what do you guys think? I know my S&S is going to be an uber fatty but I am takeing appropriate (over kill) steps to ensure optimum water quality, do you think a powder blue will fit comfy as an adult as far as space, aggro and bio load? or am I allready over stocking?

Minimum for most tangs is 90g. They have a really bad rep for getting crypt when moved or stressed for any reason. QT for at least a month, before adding to your system.

Agreed. Quite a delicate fish until fully settled into a system.

Why not wait until you have the 300g up and running to introduce the Powder Blue?

As it stands, the 125g is pretty fully stocked and you will be stressing the new Powder Blue. Then stressing it again when moving them to the 300.

Great idea!

I deff plan on waiting till I get the 300 up and running before I go on the hunt for the new tang. I will prob use the 125 as a nice established QT before I revamp it into somthing els. I was thinking a nice macro tank full of little critters :D

Then that stocklist looks good to go. Sounds like a nice setup. Would enjoy seeing some pics when it is up and running.

Oh I am documenting the whole build of the 300 so there will deff be a nice fat post once it is up and running. As far as the 125 macro tank it might take a while before that goes through. The gf has not given me 1 oz of doo doo over this project or its cost so I figured I would take her on a nice trip later this year.

A yellow tang would be fine in a 125g...but yea. The less stress you put on the fish the better.

Yellows are bombproof though. If you want tang advice, my brother and I have kept a ton of different tangs, and killed a lot of tangs in our early years.

I would say now though that I am somewhat of a tang expert, I even make my own tang food.
