Hello, I was just wandering if anyone knew anything that would fatten up a parrotfish. So far all he eats is flakes, plankton, brine shrimp, peas, and this emerald entree stuff that is really cheap. HE also browse on algea in the tank .But he only eats these things in very small portions. He is still a baby and is very fragile, and I do not want him to get bullyed or killed, so I want to fatten him up . Any help would be very appreciated.

I don't have any personal experience with parrots, but I'd imagine having beaks like puffers or triggers that it will need to eat some shelled foods to wear down it's beak. I like to feed Clam-on-a-Halfshell since my puffer is very small. Since yours is small that might be a good shelled food for you to start with.

Sounds like you want to overfeed your parrot... make sure you don't do that.

I don't want to overfeed him I just want him to eat more is all i am saying. When ever I put food in the tank he go's crazy, but then after about two or three bites he is done.

He's done becaue he's full. You cant force it to eat. Sometimes if fish eat too much or are feed too often it results in fatal deformaties and internal problems.

As long as your offering a mixed diet and giving it all it will eat per serving than thats all it's going to eat weather you like it or not.

The most you could do safely is feed once in the morning and once in the evening but usually this fish would only eat once a day.

Good luck to you and your fish.

JJ.
