All I have are power filters. I am not confident enough to try a Sump/Wet Dry or anything specail, as much as I want to. For now thow, these filters work for me. I realy need to get onto of my game in the bio-filtration area thow. I have a very old "small" AC filter that I want to fill with Pot Scrubies. Will this work for a bioload of my fish. Can I just throw in some Pot Scrubies into all of my Power Filter? All I have are AC's with the bottom sponges right now. I need to impresse my Aquaculture teacher cause I want to be the best in class.:grinno::raspberry

Yes pot scrubbers will work in your filter. Will this work for your bioload? I dont know, because I dont know what your stock is, what size tank you have, and what fish and size of fish you have in the tank. I have stuffed pot scrubbers into all the crevices of my HOB filters along with the mechanical media. As long as you have some mechanical media still you should be OK.

Kissing fish
Convicts
Green Terror
Skunk loaches
Bullhead Cat
Bumblebee Cat
Tiger barbs

Those are the fish in my tank. They will be seperated soon but the new tanks needs bio-filtration too, so the Pot Scrubies is what I was aiming for. AC sells those ceramic stones for the filter but their expensive and they say you need to replace them every 3 months.

Teachers like to see your seriously thinking, so stuffing a couple of scrubbies in a HOB (tho it does work) isn't much to impress him/her. You could put some plants in it too.

Think some more about the W/D. You can make a gravity return filter by building it on top of the aquarium. Or an internal sump if you have tha tank space.

Keep a log of the tanks chemistry & W/C's, get & keep the ammonia/nitrAtes as close to zero as you can and document any changes and why they happened.

What grade level is the class?

Well, I am in grade 12 and I guess thats the type off course. Does anyone have a good step by step article on how to make a wet dry filter? I have 10G tank that I don't need and could use one of those.
