Hear's the deal.
My 560gal tank is 4ft tall so I decided to go with tile bottom and put power heads on one side of the tank to blow all the junk that settles on bottom of tank to the side that my intake from my filters are so I would have minimal matenence and it works PERFECT.
My problem is that the only power heads I can find with power cords long enough to reach the bottom of my tank and still reach my outlet is the cheap ones from walmart that goes out every 3 months. I can not use the magnetic ones because it would have to hold through 1'' thick acrilic, two sheets of 1/2'' thick insulation and a 1/4'' sheet of plywood.

If the were not such a pain to mount to the bottom of the tank with it full of water and fish I would not be worried but that is not the case so does anybody know of any reliable powereheads with long cords?

im not sure if your doing this already but it sounds like it might help. if you can put staple into the plywood or even tape them try this. lower the power head as far as you can until maybe 3 inches of the cord are sticking out then tape/staple them to the side of the tank and plug them into an extension cord. i say staple or tape so the fish doesn't drag in your power source and make them self cooked.

I wish I could do something like that but big fish would just pull the staples out. I would rather them pull the cord out of the wall instead which they have done.

^^ my quiet ones have very long cords...... almost too long for most applications. Other than that, Ive always had to use extension cords with powerheads because all my tanks are too tall to plug them in
