When you have over flows is it good to run power heads?

Powerhead wont effect the overflow at all but can help to luft poo off the bottom up higher in the water column

Agree, and even though I have a fairly strong flow thru most tanks, I run extra powerheads using the venturi, on tanks with rheophilic fish for extra oxygenation, and to create counter current.

Also helps in case a main pump fails.
