My power will be cut for about 6 hours on Thursday. Will my fish suffocate in that short of time?

Funny, mine just went out this past Thursday for 9 1/2hrs. All my fishes survive. But my aro was breathing pretty heavy by the time power was back on. It was off from 9pm exact til 6:30am. My tank was also a bit over stock.

I think you'll be fine...

The main determinant factor will be how heavily stock your tank is, and/or the sizes of your fish. It should also be a concern if the tank goes above 90F.

I read your other post, tank is definitely heavily stocked, so it would be a good idea to buy battery powered air pumps. I believe walmart carries them. They're not too expensive so better to be safe about it, plus then you have them for the future. Also, if it were me I'd prepare for longer than 6 hours, just in case.

Since you know it's coming, I suggest you clean your filters before the outage. That'll prevent them from going bad too fast.

Funny I can't seem to remember or find where I posted my stock list. That's a good idea to prepare for longer just in case

Are you talking about the BB dying?

Keep bio media from drying out, I would place sponge 's or media in the aquarium or if hob filter's manually pour aquarium water over media every hour or so. If bio media is in canister or sump do what was suggested take out and place media in aquarium, but try to get battery operated air pumps.
